I feel even more compelled to write down my thoughts and save my messages and correspondences. It's so good. I was not expecting to love it this much, but it just might be one of my favorites for the year.

I was never a huge Superman fan. But I did occasionally enjoy Smallville. I just only recently found out that Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale (my favorite duo) wrote a Superman comic, on which Smallville was based. So obviously, I had to give it a go. And it was - to no one's surprise - so beautiful. It captures the mythos of Clark and Superman, and what makes him compelling. Being a gentle giant. Knowing he has all these powers, but also acknowledging that he can't unleash it all, not if he wants to blend in and be accepted for who he really is as well. Starting the story out with Clark still being in Kansas was so perfect. The art was impeccable.

Two very different novels, widely different eras — and yet the common thread of exasperation runs through both. The everyday miseries of family are rarely dramatic enough to qualify as tragedy. And yet, we stay. Read alongside Persuasion.

Still my favorite Austen, by a mile. The restrained disdain for family, the inner life of someone who cannot stand the people she loves — so relatable. And Captain Wentworth’s letter. That letter!!!

That finale!!! I was so glad the team who won, won. And this show just really unlocks the quiz bee girl in me. I was able to answer, I think, around 70% of the questions? Man, I wish I could join!

Who knew this soundtrack still slaps? It's a perfect capsule to that early 2000's alt-rock scene. What a nostalgia trip.
